🏀 Area Round Update: Andress Advances as Borderland Teams Battle Friday
EL PASO, Texas — The Area Round continues Friday across Texas, and the Borderland has already seen a mix of results as teams fight to keep their seasons alive.
So far, one El Paso program has secured its spot in the next round, while others have seen their postseason runs come to an end.
✔️ Andress High School Advances
Andress kept the Borderland’s playoff hopes alive with a hard-fought 69–64 victory over Abilene Wylie.
The Eagles showed composure down the stretch, closing the game with key defensive stops and timely execution. Andress continues to build momentum at the right time.
❌ Franklin High School falls to Eaton
Franklin’s strong finish to the regular season came to an end in a 64–35 loss to V.R. Eaton. The Cougars struggled to find offensive rhythm against Eaton’s defensive pressure.
Despite the setback, Franklin’s season included a second-place finish in one of the region’s toughest 6A districts.
❌ Eastwood High School falls to Mansfield
Eastwood’s postseason run ended with a 76–58 loss to Mansfield. The Troopers battled but were unable to slow Mansfield’s balanced scoring attack.
Eastwood closes the year with a 20-plus win season and one of the strongest 6A résumés in the Borderland.
