🏀 Borderland Regional Semifinals Update: Burges Advances, Chapin and Americas Fall
EL PASO, Texas — The UIL Regional Semifinals delivered another intense night of playoff basketball, with the Borderland seeing both heartbreak and momentum as teams fought to keep their seasons alive.
So far, one El Paso program has advanced, while others saw their postseason runs come to an end. One more team still looks to keep the region’s championship hopes alive.
✔️ Burges High School advances in thriller
Burges continues its postseason surge after a dramatic 74–72 win over Palo Duro. The Mustangs once again showed poise in a tight game, closing strong in the final moments to secure their spot in the Regional Finals.
With the victory, Burges remains one of the hottest teams in the Borderland and moves one step closer to the state tournament.
❌ Chapin High School falls to Tascosa
Chapin’s season came to an end with a 64–35 loss to Tascosa. Despite the setback, the Huskies’ year included a strong district performance and another deep playoff push.
❌ Americas High School falls in defensive battle
Americas’ season ended in a hard-fought 40–38 loss to Amarillo. The Trailblazers’ elite defensive identity kept them in the game until the final possession, but they were unable to find the late offensive spark.
The season still stands as one of the most successful in recent program history.
