Debi Thomas -- first African American athlete to win a medal at the Winter Olympic Games.

Bob Gibson -- the last National League picture to win MVP of Major League Baseball.

Houston Harris "Bobo Brazil" -- considered one of the first successful pro wrestlers.

Althea Gibson -- first Africa American athlete to win a tennis Grand Slam title.

In celebration of African American History Month

Hank Aaron -- broke the "unbreakable" home run record of Babe Ruth.

Wilma Rudolph -- first American female to win 3 gold medals in track and field at one Olympic Games.

Jackie Robinson -- first African American baseball player in during Jim Crow America.

Muhammed Ali -- the 1st and only 3 x lineal World Heavy Weight Champion in boxing history

Arthur Ashe -- first African American selected to the US Davis Cup team andthe only African American man to win Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open.

Florence Griffith-Joyner "Flo Jo" -- considered the fastest woman ever for her world records in the 100 m and 200 m that still stand today.

Jim Brown -- considered to be one of the greatest football players ever.  He is the only player in NFL history to average over 100 rushing yards per game for his career.

Vincent "Bo" Jackson -- he is the only professional athlete in history to be named an All Star in both professional football and baseball.

Kareem Abdul-Jabar -- the NBA's all time leader in points, games played, minutes played, field goals made and attempted, and blocked shots, to name a few.

Gabrielle "Gabby" Douglas -- is the first person of African decent in Olympic history to win the all-around champion in gymnastics.  And the first US gymnast to win both the individual all-around and team competitions at the same Olympics.
